A patent grant the patent owner sole rights to the commercialisation of the patented invention.

The rights are enforced by law, meaning that the patent owner can prevent others form comcial exploition of the patent.

  • News value
    The invetion must not be publicly known at the time it is registated.
  • Invetion stature
    The invention must not be adjacent to a professional. 
  • Industrial applicability

valid for 20 years

A patent is valid for usually 20 years from the date of regristration (date of priority).

In most countries, patent applications are published 18 months after the date of priority.

Within the first two years from the date of priority, it is possible to hand in updated patent applicatins for the invention in question.
