Act on technology transfer etc. at public research institutions grants public research institutions the rights to form and own one public limited company and be coowner of one or more public limited companies formed by other public research institutions.
The public limited companies must have a domicile and head office in Denmark in accordance with their articles of association.
The Danish Council for Technology and Innovation (DCTI) has implemented a proof-of-concept financing for public research institutions.
The funding can be used to ‘buy free’ researchers from teaching and research for a period so that they can concentrate on their invention.
In addition, the funds can be used to employ project workers and enlist external expertise, e.g. for market evaluations and patenting.
