When scientists and businessmen meet

One group is in charge of innovation, while the other one is able to get investors and sell the product. According to Professor Finn Valentin, the biotech business has been in the market for students with an understanding of the commercial and the scientific industry perspectives.

The elective course Biobusiness and Innovation Program is going to improve the collaboration between the two groups of students, and as of the autumn 2010 biotech students from the University of Copenhagen also get the chance to enrol on the course, which lasts three months.

The elective course is for students at master's and PhD level. 30 students are enrolled in each class, of which half are biotech students, while the other half are business students.

The course is the result of a collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and CBS, and the first class has just completed the course.

During the design process, the two universities have cooperated closely with businesses in the industry, and the people behind the course are also practitioners with a background from CBS and DTU, respectively. Today, the practitioners work at LEO Pharma and Novozymes.
